New Look, new URL, new Zest for Blogging

December 31, 2009 · No Comments

A couple of months back I managed to get a hold of the andyallan.com domain, and this put into play a series of events, which finally means my blog is back up and running.

I've been wanting to ditch the old "Creative Restraint" title for a while, and to be honest, started to lose enthusiasm for blogging because of it. The old design didn't help either.

However, with the capture of andyallan.com, I started looking for a new design, and found a rather spiffy one courtesey of Matt Brett. It cost me a few quid but I really like it.

It's actually a Wordpress template and came all set up with PHP code riddled through the template files. PHP is fairly straight forward, and having dabbled with it in the past it didn't take too long to swap out the code for some CFML.

I also made a few adjustments to Mango blog to support uploading a Blog Entry Image and creating thumbnails on the fly. I've also moved the blog to the Rackspace cloud.

So all in all, quite a few things have happened, but I'm happy that the blog is back up and running and I've got a renewed zest for churning out new material, some of which may be co-posted here and on our company blog over at Fuzzy Orange.

Anyway, have a great New Year and I'll see you all in 2010.
